One of these gyms is opening next to me and the price is tempting at 9.99pm for 12mth contract. However, I have a feeling that it will be over subscribed and always packed.
Does anyone have experience of this gym? (Location doesn't matter)

not with the gym, but with the people they hire to market to you. I had expressed interest in a new local gym and ended up getting marketing phone calls from random mobile numbers while the caller was seemingly driving or walking on a busy street.
I could never hear the person properly and always asked them to call me back on a land line. They never did, but each time this happened I'd get a text message confirming the date and time of an appointment I'd supposedly set up.
I complained to their corporate, but it kept happening about twice a week for a month.0 -
I'm a member of the one in Wakefield, and have been for about 3 years or so. It's quite basic (they have TVs but no way of listening to the sound), but they have plenty of equipment. I usually use the treadmill when it is too wet / dark to go for long runs, and have never had any problems having to wait for a machine. My wife goes to a lot of classes there as well.0

I use Klick fitnes which another cheap/basic gym. I pay a bit more for a rolling DD no contract membership.
It may be worth going along at the time you will most likely use it to see how busy it is. I don't find my gym too busy, can always use what I want, but I do go during the day.0 -
Expect it to be stupidly busy when they first open, the one in Hull has a huge carpark and for the first 6 months or so there wasn't a parking space anywhere in the carpark to be had at pretty much any time of the day. People were parked up on the verges wherever there was a space and also out on the main road verges at peak times. I drive past the gym multiple times most days and it I don't think I ever saw a free space in the first few months as I'd considered joining it.
A friend of mine signed up when they opened and said that although there was a lot of equipment, they struggled to get on a lot of the things they wanted to. Once things calmed down a bit he said it was a bit better but that carparking was still a problem and there were still times he had to queue for certain equipment.
I ended up joining a more expensive gym much closer to home and although it's a fraction of the size I rarely have any problems getting onto what I want to be on.0 -
If you check other forums, they are very quick at accepting memberships, but shockily bad at receiving cancellation notices, even when you take them in personally. They fail to cancel the direct debit, so you do. They then set Credit Resolution Services on to you trying to make to pay a years subscription and a £102.50 "admin fee". I wouldnt go anywhere near them, the sharp practices are immoral and disgusting, playing on peoples fear of a bad credit record.0

I am a member. It's great as long as you don't want to go after work at 5.30pm, then it's a nightmare and packed out.
They don't have any water fountains. Neither do they have a cold tap, so you can't fill your own water bottle back up, they only have vending machines for bottles of water and powerade drinks.
Also, they don't seem to have any staff on site who will show you the machines. You can pay for sessions with a personal trainer, or you can download QR codes to your phone for £1.50 a pop which tell you which machines / exercise are best for toning, weight loss, fitness etc.
Not the best gym in the world, but if you go at an off peak time, take your own water and know how to use the machines you will be fine.0
