I applied for a CDL in 2007 and started making payments in 2009 after my online course cut-off date. I had a few issues with the company that provided the course and don't mind mentioning them as they have now dissolved - Digitech Training Limited t/a ITlearneasy, and unfortunately was unable to complete my course as a result. In 2008 they wrapped up finances and dissolved in 2010. You can imagine how helpful they were during this time. My question is, are Barclays partly responsible for endorsing this company with CDLs and accounts and failing to investigate, moderate and communicate to the customer what was going or would they have been oblivious, having paid the company their money and then requesting payments from the customer? Who carries the blame in this instance as there should be some regulation of companies that offer online training surely? Or do I just blame myself for being stupid enough to choose a company that appeared reputable because they worked with Barclays? in addition, I am still paying this loan but will be done in October 2014 so it has been a major investment for me.

Since it's a government initiative I would imagine if there's anyone to blame for not checking that the company was "legit" it would be them.
The banks just provide the money (they get it back from the government if the debtor defaults.)
I think your complaint is with the government but as even companies that people believe "can't fail, surely" (RBS, Lloyds) do, I doubt you'll get far with that.0 -
I think you're right boo_star. I'm going to try from the top and work my way down writing letters. I feel if anything, there should be some regulation of companies offering online training. Who is to stop them offering inferior service, charging for it and dissolving their business before complaints reach anyone's desk. Thanks for the reply.0
