help with CCJ's

Hi
I have today looked at my credit report and can see I received a ccj in Jan 06. I have been living out of the country since Dec 04 and so have never recd any court payments demand for money etc. It is for £100 and I know how to trace what it is all about but my question is can I now contest it because I have been told that if I pay the money it will show as being satisfied - but it will still be on my report!! What I want to do is pay the £100 (if I owe it) but I want to contest the fact that I have the CCJ because it does not seem fair getting one when I wasnt even in the country to receive the demand for the money or the court papers.
Any advice on how to go about this??
Thanks all
Beki
