British Beef at Sainsbury's?

Just when I think I've found it - online- I check the description and it says "Packed in UK" - not "produced in UK" the only British-born beef I could find was beefburgers with a Red Tractor mark.
Is there a simple explanation?

Sainsburys fresh beef is either British or Irish
Asda fresh beef is 99% British or Irish
Tesco fresh beef is either British or Irish
Morrisons fresh beef is either British or Irish
Co-op fresh beef is 100% British
Waitrose fresh beef is 100% British

So if the beef was packed in the UK it was probably Irish.

    I found this about labelling
    http://rpa.defra.gov.uk/rpa/index.nsf/15f3e119d8abcb5480256ef20049b53a/0397b65b8f92b04a802574c100429568/$FILE/BLS Guide.pdf

looks really good - I reckon the problem with Sainsbury's is that those details appear on the label but it's impossible to read the labels online - so why aren't they required to publish those details so the online buyer has the same information.
    Think I'll ask them.

They probably don't have as much detail online as the stock will vary from store to store.

There's an app you can download which uses the Food Standards Agency's data to tell you which slaughterhouse / cutting plant the meat comes from and it's levels of compliance.
Not helpful when online shopping maybe but it's a start.
