Online business fulfilment issues

I have an idea for an online retail business. However the issue I face is that I work away during the summer for between 3-8 days at a time resulting in me being unable to fulfil orders quickly. I have purposefully not listed limitations around potential solutions in order to be open to all ideas. I welcome solutions that other people have used to get round this problem.

If you run an ebay shop you can set it to hoilday mode and block sales for a period of time?
The only other solution is to hire someone in your place (whether it be a family member or an employee)
Depending what your selling, I doubt you could just up ship for 8 days without annoying customers who place orders while your away..People don't know what they want until you show them.0
