Invitations - Help Needed

Hi There

I am a groom to be in need of some help, one of the responsibilities I have been given is to sort out the invites, the wedding is in less than 6 months and i', not very creative, so i'm thinking its probably best that i get some ready made. The big problem is though that we are on a very tight budget and I need these as cheap as possible.
Can anyone please give me any advise as to good places to get nice and reasonably priced invites?

Thank you

  • Hi, I'm a massive Vistaprint fan - they have some 'wedding invites' where you could just pick a standard one, or they have other options like postcards (what we're planning to do) where you can upload a photo of yourselves and put some text over the top. MSE tip - wait for a sale, or if you upload a design and save it, and leave it a few days before ordering, vistaprint will usually email you with a better deal in that time.

As Tillyenna says Vistaprint are VERY competitive on price and quality.

    Congratulations!
I hope all goes well for you.

It's a very shrewd tip to leave the design in the basket & back away for a couple of days - I've done that with other photo sites & yes, they do look at "abandoned baskets".

Vistaprint used to have a bad reputation for being hard to get *off* their mailing list - I think that's now sorted but can only recommend a 'wedding email' address at Gmail to handle the adverts etc you aren't bothered with.

Leave the name neutral and herself may have a use for it in years to come with the mother & baby club things?!

Hoping you both have a wonderful wedding day & a long & happy life together!

I made our invites - good quality, and less than £50 for them all (I made 40). Plus my time to make them of course.

When looking online though, you can get simple invites for about £1 each.

Do you just need invites or do you need things like 'order of service', 'menus', etc.

gettingmarried.co.uk may help you out. Maybe not with invites, but with other things. :)

EDIT: Don't forget to check this out: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/cheaper-weddings We used some of the tips from here to help us when planning our wedding. Just had another look and it has some tips for invites too. :)

Have you tried ebay? There are sellers of handmade personalised invites for every budget. A quick look on a search there and I could see really nice ones from 30p each!

  • I got a box containing 30 invitations + envelopes, 30 save the dates + envelopes & 30 RSVP cards + envelopes from The Works for £2.99!

They came with ribbons and decorative sticker 'seals' for the back of the envelopes, plus a lovely pen.

I bought them thinking that if they didn't turn out nicely, I hadn't lost much but I was really pleased with them and have now sent them out! I did buy some extra 'pearls' to stick on (99p for a sheet of mixed colours, probably about 50), also from The Works.

Wow they look nice. Please share link on where you bought them from

You can get some free designs from here http://www.weddingchicks.com/freebies/ customise online and then use local printers.

I saw some nice ones on ebay thinking of having a custom design and using local printers.
