Hi all,
I've just received a txt msg which says...
Hi *****[using my first name], thanks for registering your details . Now text back VOUCHER to confirm your number. https://www.vivalavoucher.co.uk Helpline 08447451791
This was sent from 65544
Obviously I haven't replied, nor used STOP in reply, as what little I have found via google search suggests this wouldn't work. Not sure I want to open that can of worms anyway
I'll be checking my EE a/c tomorrow but really worried I'll get charged for receiving this text (£££?), and worried I'll get swamped with more
Has anyone here got experience of this number/company and can offer any advice? I'd be really grateful :A :A

Thanks Dave - yep found the same info, but thanks for the msg. I've gone for it and texted STOP (no response txt yet) - I'll contact my mobile provider tomorrow and try blocking the number too

I also then got two txts from JuicyWin 88818 - I texted STOP to those and got a response to say 'All services on this shortcode are now stopped' - just so worried I'm going to find a huge scary bill=^._.^= You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats =^._.^=0 -
Next steps...
Just in case anyone else has a problem with vivalavoucher in future, as least if I log my experience here then it might help someone else
- Checked mobile a/c this morning, and no large amounts have been debited :j just a couple of 10p text costs (I can live with that!)
- I contacted PhonePayPlus (who act on behalf of Ofcom, where you can log a complaint about unsolicited texts (they were VERY helpful)
- I have registered my mob no. with TPS service (Telephone Preference Service) as further protection against unsolicited marketing texts/calls (stupidly I'd never reg my mobile number, only my home phone before now!!)
- Advised to send a new text (ie. not just hit reply) to the number stating STOP as this is a legal, industry requirement which all companies must abide by and immediately cease their marketing texts. An automated response should be received to confirm your request (I've just sent that txt now - will see what happens!)
- I will also send an email to vivalavoucher to request they remove my details forthwith, and say that I have contacted PhonePayPlus etc. This is just extra back-up for my peace of mind, and I'll ask them for conf too - let's see if I get anything in reply!
I'll be checking my mobile account online regularly from now on, just in case!

Some of the magazines have yes/no questions for text subscription services, don't know if this actual company is one but you have to watch out for them.0

Thanks mjm3346 - you could be right, they are SO sneaky!!!
We've probably ALL had that moment where the finger slipped into the 'yes' box by mistake, and then that 'offer' has disappeared into the ether immediately to work its wicked way to an unscrupulous premium rate txt company
I'll be checking all my mag account details and removing anywhere I've entered my mobile number!!!
EDIT - Uh oh, looks like you can't remove your tel nos. Although not [*] required, when I update and then go back in the numbers have returned.
Be extra careful all you folks who do the mag dailies !!!! (I'll be taking extra care from now on to avoid entering the 'wrong tick'! lol)=^._.^= You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats =^._.^=0 -
OK - I think I've discovered the reason I got this text...
It was a Mag daily (you were right mjm3346! :A) - I found a 'viva la voucher' offer on the list today, and that made me think how it had happened, as there was an additional requirement to add a mobile number into the offer box...
Well, I use roboform to autofill using the 'no thanks' custom field, but also have my ID one for other comps (which incl name, address and mobile tel), and both auto-complete buttons sit side by side on my tool bar
I think I recall on one occasion a few days ago I pressed the ID button by mistake, but thought that it hadn't filled anything, but now presume that one must have sneaked through and pre-filled the mobile no. box without me realising.
I am relieved on one hand to know where this all originated from, and my number isn't on a list being bandied about between premium rate txt companies!! :rotfl:
On the other hand, I feel super stoooopid :doh:for doing this in the first place!
Goes to prove how careful you have to be with those mag dailies!=^._.^= You will always be lucky if you know how to make friends with strange cats =^._.^=0 -
hello all, if this ever happens just:
- phone up your network provider and let them know
- text stop all to stop all future texts.0
