Hello all, firstly, thankfully I am not working in accounts as I am rubbish..
I am reducing my hours at work and had a meeting today to find out the decision. It means a reduction in hours but obviously also pay too. Now I am stuck in trying to work out what impact it will have on my salary. Can anyone please help?
I presently work 37.5hrs per week and have 30mins lunchbreak out of that. I earn 22k
I am going to be going down to a .8 post so reducing my hours by 1/8th. Now I am wracking my brains trying to work out the difference in gross salary.
I have (back of the envelope) worked it out as 22k/8 which equals 2750 I think may lose p/a. That would make my gross pay 19,250???? Is this the correct method??
If not any help appreciated!!!! Thanks v much in advance....

0.8FTE will mean you are working 8/10 of a full time equivalent, and you will be reducing your hours by 1/5. Your new pay will be 4/5 of £22k which equals £17,600.

Are you sure your hours are decreasing by 1/8th ? Usually a 0.8 fte means you work 80% of full time hours, equivalent of 4 days per week. Therefore your hours decrease by 1/5th, i.e. 20%.
If it's this definition then your salary would go down to £17,600 a year, a decrease of £4,400 overall. Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............0 -
