Claiming back Mobile Phone expenses for use at work

I work as a Home care worker. I already claim back expenses for petrol and washing of uniform for my job. But was wondering if it was possible to claim back expenses for using my mobile for work purposes? The company I work for do not supply phones for use at work despite the fact I frequently have to use my own phone for work related purposes. e.g contacting the office about any problems with service users, contacting Pharmacy's, District nurses etc,
It is difficult to work out precise costs of calls though, so if it is possible to claim, could I work out a rough percentage?

No you cannot, expenses claims must be actual costs not rough guesses

if you have a pay as you go tariff then forget it as you cannot provide documentary evidence of the business related calls you make

if on a contract then you will need to pay the extra (if applic) for an itemised bill and you will be expected to keep a record of the business calls to support you claim . If you can do that then yes you could claim in such circumstances
