Hi Vics,
I have put it through my calc twice and come up with 1815 both times as the final total.
Now a great bug bear of mine is energy companies I see you have put in £130 a month which seems quite high to me have you checked you latest statements to check that you do not have a credit balance?
As ML says if you have a credit balance of more than 1 months DD then request a refund from them they can not refuse.
How ever as an ex energy company employee I do have to say that when you have been given your refund check the amount that they have put on your DD for future payments.
Many will just set up your DD again and the computer will set it up higher due to no funds in your account you will just need to ring them and ask for it to be reduced stating that when you was paying the lower amount you built up a significant credit balance so paying more will result in a higher credit.[strike]Debt 1 £50.70[/strike]Paid:D
Debt 2 [strike]£190£175£157[/strike]Paid:D
Debt 3 [strike]£189£169[/strike][strike]£159[/strike][strike]£124.07[/strike]Paid:D
Debt 4 [strike]£472£452[/strike]£4020 -
Aww good advice I will check we are in a 2 bed house but not sure on the average amount - can see on here some people paying 40 a month don't know how though!!!0

hiya, welcome.
you are not a bad person, you haven't let your family down and it seems like you are trying to get sorted:) you have come to a good place.
well, the good news is you have room to cut back without too much sacrifice I think.
I think you and partner need to literally go down that list and ask yourselves how to reduce the amounts, either by getting rid or reducing costs.
there are no debts listed, is that right?
things like ringing round and getting lower prices for all your insurances, eg contents insurance- I pay £9 a month for buildings insurance (£96,000) and contents (£10,000) !! so £15 is a heck of a lot.pet insurance also sound expensive....go through topcashback and a compare site, shop around.
mobiles-I know you are tied in but sometimes if you ring companies, tell them you are struggling, and ask if there is anything they can do, they usually offer a discount, the worst they can say is NO, so it's worth asking. Any old handsets to sell?
what is the simply health? a gym? could you look for free /exercise instead?
just giving? what is this?charity? could you stop paying this and give to charity in a different way?
tv/phones/mobiles/internet...look in to lowering package/price, again, just ring and ask £148 on tv,internet and phones in total
gas and electric are extortionate!! why is this? or is it arrears you have to pay too?
its good you pay for just in cases, that's when we come unstuck sometimes!
this is a full SOA that lots of us here use, have a look, may help a bit.

I have just been looking into offering 50% of the balance to some of the smaller ones but they are the same company as the larger ones?? How does going about offering a full settlement work? Is this something worth looking into doing over next few months0
-
no-one will judge, we are on this forum cos we have all had debts to a varying degree!
main thing now is to get a plan together to help you along the wayLIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
Thank you - this is what I am desperately trying to do... but not sure which way to turn to be honest or where to start0

If you have more than one debt with the same collections dept it would be unwise to offer a settlement on one and not the other as they could be difficult and ask for a settlement on both accounts before they would consider it I had the same issue a while ago.[strike]Debt 1 £50.70[/strike]Paid:D
Debt 2 [strike]£190£175£157[/strike]Paid:D

I think a DMP is the way forward, ring one of the charities in the stickies listed at the top and read the beginners guide, they will advise how much to offer your creditorsYou're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0
