OCM - Staying the Distance

I finally decided to give the OCM a try on my spot-prone combination skin. I'm in my early 30's.
I started out using a 50/50 mix of castor oil and jojoba oil. I found this was leaving my skin a little dry, so I've moved to 1/3 castor oil to 2/3 jojoba oil. The dryness has improved.
Anyway, 2 weeks in and my skin is disgusting! How long did other people find it took to start seeing the lovely clear skin I've heard about? Is it worth sticking it out?

Disgusting how? As in you're breaking out or are oily? I don't think that there should be a purging stage with OCM. The thing about cleansing with oils, is that there are so many different oils to try. It may be that you have a reaction to the castor oil or the jojoba oil, in which case you could try another oil. Also, how are you doing OCM? I double cleanse, so I use an extra cleanser after I use the oil to make sure everything has left my skin.No more goo hoarding!

I used oils but not so much as cleansing, more about preventing dryness as my skin tends to be quite dry.
I've tried quite a few, such as jojoba, almond, hazenut, vit e, rosehip, Shea butter and coconut oil. Some suit my skin better than others. Almond the most recent purchase made my skin burn a bit when applied after shaving. Shea butter was quite nice but hard and more difficult to apply. Coconut works very well and so did jojoba.
You probably need to find the correct oils, some sink in better than others whereas some sit on the skin creating a barrier which suits dryer skin. Read up on them and their effects.0 -
Thanks. For the first week my skin seemed to be a little better, but a little dry. Then I started getting more and more pimple-type whiteheads. They started coming up before I adjusted the mix, and now the dryness has improved but the spots just keep on coming. They do seem to be drying out pretty quickly though.
I read up on what oil types to use a lot before I started. I was under the impression that castor oil is key for it's cleansing properties? I picked jojoba because it's meant to be a good for all skin types and I have combination skin.
My first thought was that I was going through a purge phase, but how long should that last?Shrinking my mortgage!
