Disk Brake Pads - Ceramic Vs Resin

Hi all,
Used to cycle a lot when i was in my teens and early 20's but took a long time out after learning to drive and became rather lazy.
Decided to get back into it and bought myself a GT Avalanche 1.0 (2011)
It's fairly decent for the type of cycling i do but i was a little disappointed with the disk brakes.
It uses Shimano M445 hydraulic disks with Shimano discs as well.
The pads will wear out much faster than the disc and the disc has "resin only" stamped on it.
What would happened if i was to buy and use ceramic pads instead? Will they just cause the disc to wear down faster than normal or are there any other problems i could run into?

I've run though pads (hope) in one ride in the past, very abrasive mud will kill them pretty quick.
Have a look at the selection at Disco and try a few and see which suits

BTW sintered pads usually last well in the winterChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0

Agree : sintered all the way , but especially in winter/wet weather0

Thanks for that!
I'm more used to vehicle disc brakes rather than bicycle.
Will the sintered pads still work ok on "resin only" discs?
I'm sure they will but i'm a bit of a noob with the cycling these days. All your base are belong to us.0 -
