Hello everyone I'm new to this forum but desperate for help.
I took a loan out with GE money for cold seal windows in 2003. In 2006 I rang the company for a settlement figure which I paid by cheque for the full amount they told me. Therefore think it was all finished with. In 2009 I got a letter stating I owed £1094 because there was still £102 to pay. I had no letters, phone calls nothing for three yrs while they added interest. I paid this with borrowed money as I was already having money problems. I rang GE money to complain about it today in the hope I can get something back...? Anyone know of any information that will help, thank you very much in advance :j

Hi
Did you make a complaint in 2009 when they asked you for this futher money? Or for an explanation as to why you had heard nothing for 3 years?
If you want to try to make a complaint now, after another 5years I would suggest that you probably need to do it in writing rather than by telephone.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi yes I rang them straight away and said I thought it was unfair and I was having money difficulties but they said it was up to me to check the account was closed. It was really upset at the time and rang citizens advice who said they should of contacted me but didn't have to so I just paid it as I didn't want to get into trouble :-( . Do u think I stand a chance of getting anything back?0

They still have all my account details and have now sent a copy of the statement which confirms my payment etc0

I think you'd have perhaps have had a better chance trying to negotiate a discount off the 3years interest back then before you made the payment.
I'd imagine it is unlikely you will get far so long after.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Did you receive a settlement quotation by post?
You may have just been given the account balance on the phone not the settlement balance. Normally this has to be calculated and a formal time limited offer made.0
