Household scrap metal

I have noticed that the "rag and bone" folk in their pickup trucks no longer come round like they have been doing for the last 3 or 4 years. Strange as we used to get up to 3 different traders a day.
Anyway, I have some household scrap metal like kettles, old PC, VCR, bread maker, and other bits of metal. Is it worth me taking them to my local scrap metal merchant (have been in the past with copper) or is it not worth it and I should take them to the Council tip ?
Thanks.

I could be wrong but I doubt that it would be worth your petrol because they won't give you anything for it. Just throw anything small enough into the trash. Personally I think that recycling is just a con so that people make money out of people's free effort.0

Round here in south wales they tend to come around in the spring/summer months.0

Old PC will be a case that possibly weighs under 1kg. Couple of KG all in but that includes a fair bit of plastic and circuit boards etc.
Same with a VCR, Lots of plastics inside and a large circuit board.
Freecycle? That way it costs you nothing to dispose of them.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
They now have to be registered with the local authority, probably puts the illegal immigrants off. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

It's more the fact they have to apply for a CRB check at the same time. :rotfl:
