Getting the best from a £250 a month Petrol Bill

Move me if I'm in the wrong spot. Wasn't sure where to post.
The OH and I have just moved in. His petrol bill to get to work and back until he finds a new job is £250 a month (was £200 normally as he was in the country but car pooled with his dad a bit, but not now).
So, we have a Shell card that gets us points which we convert to money off coupons. We also pay using the tesco credit card for the points.
Is there anything else we can do. i know the above isn't saving money but it's a least getting a little Something back.
Anyone have any savvy tips?

I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!
