British Gas Hive anyone?

Sounds like a Dragon's Den opportunity?
I'm unsure as to the capabilities of the hub but one would assume there is the capacity to upgrade the firmware to account for this.
Fortunately as I live in a new build and well insulated property it doesn't take long to reach temperature. The system does tell you the outside temperature at your location so it may be a future upgrade.
The tado does this. Sadly at present the hive doesn't.0 -
Hi all,
Just noticed that British Gas are now giving away the Hive system with their new Fixed to 2013 Tariff. The standing charge per day is up by 6p And the price per unit has been increased slightly. However it's cheaper than the £199 they wanted originally .0 -

Do they also offer a time machine?0 -
Thought I would add to this thread rather than start a fresh.
Clearly BG are looking at Tado and Nest and developing their product accordingly. They have now added geolocation to the app so it will automatically switch your heating off when you leave the house and will switch it back on when you are on your way home and withing a defined perimeter.

If someone offered a Nest thermostat free with an energy tariff I would be delighted3.924kWp (12X327Wp SunPower). SolarEdge SE3500 inverter.
Surrey/SE. 30 degree roof pitch, chimney shading from mid afternoon.0 -
Do not go for this with any Gravity-fed CH system - I've been offered a refund and removal as it cannot provide control of CH and HW.0

I was looking to see if the Hive unit is compatible with the standard British Gas Programmer Timer backplate, which it would appear to be. Didn't fancy having all the existing wiring mucked about with.
I note that there does appear to be a part pumped/gravity feed mode that is settable, although from what you say it doesn't work.

How does this work if the person with the iPhone (or whatever) leaves the house and the remaining occupants are left to freeze when the temperature is allowed to drop?Thought I would add to this thread rather than start a fresh.

Haha!
Its not linked to one device, you can have several linked to the system. Have tested this weekend and works well. Your phone just gives you a push notification that the heating is above / below a certain level and prompts you if you would like to switch the heating off or switch it back on.0
