Markets Slammin'

Options
The markets seem to be taking a bit of a hammering last few trading days. BG Group down 14%!

Perhaps some buying opportunities are coming?

Just reduced 'forward guidance' for next 2 years by 10%. Lots of issues in Egypt one of their main development areas. Share did drop to around £10 last year.

Vod taken a dive too. That might be worth keeping an eye on.

I should have reinvested my Standard Life proceeds this week, not last week!

Yes I had noticed that. I don't hold either. I must confess that I am a little clammy at the losses to a small companies IT I have a little bit invested in. Losses of 7% so far today yet this was the best performer. What with Fridays losses on it and today's I fear my gains will be wiped out soon.

So this market correction is all your fault !
  • Time not timing opinions4u but you are right. I made a vanguard drip feed the other week.
  • So after all that fuss and mad sell off yesterday and Friday the FTSE has climbed again.

Makes me wonder what all the fuss was about. Bet the brokers are rubbing their hands with glee.

I sold a family members' BG at 1349 to top up their ISA, that was good call... unless it goes higher before April!

The market goes up and down all the time. The fuss, such that there even was any more than usual, is merely being created by people like you posting your inflammatory headlines about what is perhaps going to happen next. Most people just keep a level head and don't say the markets are slammin' when they see a few percent up or down here and there.

On a side note I see your old favourite EDIN is up a percent or so today; they announced they would renew Inv Perp's management contract with a revised fee level of 0.55% of market cap (not NAV), no performance fee, and a potential one off reduction to the current year's performance fee. Mark Barnett has lead responsibility for the portfolio effective today.

Thanks for posting the above. All good news for EDIN as far as I'm concerned. Still glad I bought in when the Woodford jitters abounded. The share price probably won't even claw back what it lost yesterday, so this announcement is probably neither here nor there. Markets go up and markets go down.

I don't suppose they care whether the market is going up or down because they make a commission on transactions.
Sell this, buy that, it doesn't matter what as long as you keep trading and paying commission.
Hence all their scare stories when it moves a couple of percent.
