Clydesdale Mortgage Application - how ever long does it take!?

Has anyone recently applied for a Clydesdale mortgage recently? (5 yr fixed) recommended to us by our broker, because they apparently assess & then credit score at the end & we've recently been rejected for reasons which are now sorted. They've requested all my documents ( payslips, ID, statements etc) last week & have had them almost a week.

Just wondered if anyone could shed any light on how long it should be before I hear?

  • Hi,

Im afraid a week isnt very long in the world of mortgages, but here is my story anyway.

We bought in August last year on the 5 year fixed from Clydesdale through Contractor Money - ours did take a while but this was mainly due to them deciding whether to keep a retainer or not (needs renovation but in the end they did not keep a retainer).

After a while of waiting I got impatient and started calling Clydesdale myself. Call as soon as their callcentre opens as if you leave it until later in the day you will be on hold forever.

After a couple of calls the callcentre gave me the contact details of the person responsible for our application and I could then call and email them directly for an update, so I knew exactly where it was. She was a lovely lady who I had the direct number for so no waiting and she knew our case.

So my advise is call them yourself, dont just leave it to the broker!

    Thanks,

    Gary.

Cyldesdale offer decent deals but they are slow in processing.

Your broker is using them due to previous issues so you must be patient.

A week is no time for any lender let alone one using a manual process like Clydesdale.

Ask your broker for expected timescales if you are unsure.

  • Thanks for your replies.

I know I sound inpatient, but I have builders asking me for a decision. They've given me a provisional start date of 1st March & I really want to keep it, but obviously can't instruct them in case the mortgage gets turned down!?

Just wondered if any of you knew when its likely I'd have a firm enough offer to let the builders issue a contract to sign.
  • I've recently applied to Clydesdale (Direct Mortgages) for a mortgage, had the recommendation through - filled in and returned the 'fact find', application form etc. - returned these with payslips, bank statement etc.

Can't see there being any hold ups with the mortgage but just interested to see how long your process took?
