Part Time work without working weekends?

Does anyone know of any retailers that will take on staff without the requirement to work weekends, bank holidays or anti-social shifts?


Or, as I expect, no such employer exists?

There are some independent sandwich shops in business districts of the city that just cater for office customers and are only open the hours you describe. Not much I know, sorry but all I could think of! Don't whether you would describe an early morning start as unsocial hours, but I know they're usually all packed up and ready to close by mid-afternoon!

Depends if they are filling a role that's just a Mon to Friday job such as I know people in ASDA who only work the weekdays 8am to 2pm etc and never work the weekends.

You just need to search every site for the part time opportunities.

I work in a trade retail counter - so although we do open Saturday mornings we only work 1 in 4 and there is no Sundays or Bank hols. Amazing to me after all those years in retail! We do open at 7am though to cater for the trade!!

You can only ask? I worked in a lot of places were there were mums who would only work days monday - friday. Then I was in school and would do the weekends and cover their bank holidays.

This happens in most places i've worked in but bigger companies allow staff to be more flexible as they have more staff.

Check out the likes of asdaa, sainsburys and boots who normally advertise working times online when they list jobs

Not in retail - I highly doubt anyway. Speaking as someone who worked in a supermarket you can very rarely get M-F jobs unless you have fallen into them by having kids working their.

If I recall correctly from applying for asda you HAD to be available for at least one weekend shift, that was for a part time role

I know Asda will expect you to work either a sat or sun as part of your contract, and at least 2 bank holidays regardless of whether you're contracted to those days or not.
I think most retail is the same (unless you've worked for the company for years)
Although I did apply for a job in Clintons once, in the stockroom, which didn't include weekends or bank holidays as they didn't have deliveries on those days

I've worked in retail for years, (I'm finally out of there) and most roles include weekends, one job let me change to just weekdays after I had been there years as I had my son.
You will ALWAYS work Christmas eve,
and don't work for Boots, awful company, they will change the rotas, swap your day off so you work Boxing Day (their sale starts) and I've never met a competent manager in the four stores I used to work for.
Have you tries schools or offices for weekday jobs x
