Hi im new to this site, hope you can help me...
On my mortgage account I have had a late fee charge of £50 and a charge of £50 because I cancelled the direct debit with the provider as I felt I had
more control paying by debit card.
I think these charges are very unreasonable and I keep getting phone calls
from the provider wanting me to pay the £100 for the fees. What would be
your advice be?

Pay them. If you were late paying the amount then thats not their fault so they can charge you under the t&c of the account.
Almost every lender will want payment by direct debit as they are then guaranteed that the money will be with them every month and there is normally a charge for using another payment method (again outlined in the t&cs).0 -
Pay them. The last thing you need on your credit record is a mortgage problem.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
