mortgage through Estate agents ??

been first time buyers the whole process of finding the right broker/lender just seems so daunting , can any of the independant advisors on this site suggest whether or not its advisable to go through an estate agent for our mortgage!! we dont have deposit and would need 100% mortgage or can you suggest which broker/lender to use !! any info would be greatly appreciated.

If the broker in the estate agent is whole of market and fees free then I see no reason why you cant use them.

If they are tied to certain lenders only or charge a high fee for their services then look elsewhere.

I'm going to remortgaging for the first time quite soon and just wondered what brokers other people used.

I knew what mortgage I wanted when I took it out, but now with rate rises and all, figured I should shop around.

No adviser on the boards can really give any recommendations of lenders as they need to fully assess your situation before doing any research for you.

Some people believe there is a conflict of interest with in-house advisers, and its been reported on numerous occasions that estate agents with take advantage of the vulnerable/un-informed in order to push the mortgage adviser on to them i.e. "you have to see our adviser to make sure you are a good buyer "

You don't have to do anything you don't want to - so if you are happy to use them then fine, but if you are not, then use who you want to

You might as well just go to Northern Rock yourself as go to an Estate Agent.
