Hello All,
Long time reader but first time poster to these boards.
Anyway we have just had a baby (10 week old) and reading on some baby/mother forums that people can get good bulk buy on nappies in Makro. I have had a look at their site but I can't join as I am not trader.
So is there any other ways to join? Makro looks like it might be handy for bulk buying water, nappies, loo roll etc which would save us a little money.

I don't think you can unless you own some type of shop or business. Otherwise if you could, I think it would bput all the Supermarkets out of business! such a shame as Makro is gorgeously cheap. (My friend's Dad owned a shop and we used to go there all the time!)0

I have asked around work and a woman here has a Makro card which she has said I can borrow.
Does she have to be with me when I use it or can I go in with her card?
Cheers

She needs to be with you, as she will need to sign in.
Welcome to the boards, and congratulations on the baby! xGone ... or have I?0 -
Thanks.
Ah well as she lives nowhere near me there is not much point in getting her card.

She doesnt need to be with you, I used to have a friends card that i used, If you take something with you and if your asked say your a member of staff that works for her, you should be ok, ive never had any problems0

I give my card to my son, never any problems.0

We have had problems at the Nottingham one, and even know of someone who got their card taken off them for giving it to friends to use.Gone ... or have I?0

I work in a shop and both me and my manager have a card. IIRC all we had to do was send in a letterhead and something with the shop address on and we got the cards about a week later. Go here to find your nearest store, then ring them and ask what you need to do to join.

Hi
I have a Makro card - but didn;t produce any documents at all... they rang me out of the blue and simply asked if I wanted one!
On the price of nappies... I think they are cheaper in Makro to bulk buy, but only in the bigger sizes. Babies grow so fast that the small sizes (Size 1 to 3) are a waste of money to bulk buy - you'd probably not use them all before Baby needs 4 or 4+ size.
A good alternative is to buy from Boots, I found. Join the parenting club for offers, always bulk buy there when they are on special offer (usually Huggies and Pampers are alternated) and collect points at the same time. If you register with Huggies Club and Pampers club, they send out vouchers every couple of months - sometimes £5 in one envelope from Pampers which is great.
Same goes for baby wipes - Pampers and Huggis, Johnssons and the big names are expensive to buy in single packs (about £2.50 for 1 pack) but bulk buys and special offers in Asda, Tesco etc or Boots means you would easily be able to buy them for a lot less. I personally buy Pampers Sensitive and have never paid more than £1 per pack for them, which I'm sure would rival even Makro's offer prices.
