Many clients of smaller firms actually prefer to pay by cheque, and sometimes it can be easier to account for the money paid in, unlike the all too often situation, where you receive direct payments into an account without any reference.

You must have been very fortunate in your selection of solicitors. Like Kingstreet I have never come across any solicitor willing to accept a credit card for payment of stamp duty.
