Talking of ladies of the night

First time I went to Poland (about 8 years ago) it was middle of winter - and I mean winter, freezing cold, snow on the ground, proper chill your bones cold

We were driving somewhere with OH's cousin and her 7 year old DS and drove past a woman standing by the road looking pretty cold and fed up, as if she had broken down or something

So I said 'oh should we not stop and see if she's ok?'

OH looks at me in a horrified fashion, translates to his cousin who looks at me in the rear view mirror as if I am a raving lunatic, and then puts her foot down :D

    I didn't know :o

No need to answer but did you meet the man of your dreams (after me obviously but I was already taken:D) over here or in Poland and did you speak Polish/he speak English ?
Or was there not much talking going on dirty girl :rotfl:

I think it was the Costa Brava when we went with all hubby's family and on the coach journey we saw all these women dotted along the highways on deck chairs, loungers and some lucky ones near sheds. We had to spell it out to MIL who was certainly very naive.:o

I blitzed the bedroom before I did the bed, and found some very old books that I inherited, but had completely forgotten about, tucked in an under bed drawer.
Any ideas where I can find out if they're worth anything? There are several volumes of Lord Byron's works, dated from 1804 to about 1827, nicely bound, some a bit worn, and some fairly tatty. They include Don Juan, The Doge of Venice, A Tragedy, The Siege of Corinth, and books of poems. I've had a search, but not any luck. It occurred to me that as there is such a diversity of knowledge on this thread, besides glitching, one of you clever people may be able to help me.

I am not clever but I do love my books.:D
Not sure if anyone has answered you yet but I usually use Alibrisuk, (100 million books)
Click rare books, fill in either author name, book title, if 1st edition, just inside the first few pages you will find the book printer name usually above that there will be numbers, this will tell you what edition it is, if not a 1st click collectables then sort by uk sellers, this will cut out all the usa sellers, who seems to overprice everything, there is also more option at the top of the screen to help locate exactly what you wanted, like condition of book, this will give you a good indication what each book is worth
Also Abebooks have (140 million books)
Forgot to say the best way of tracing a book is using the ISBN number usually found on the back of the book or on the dust jacket, you could do a ISBN search but you will find you have to search through a lot of info about the book before you get to the price
