They are good until something goes wrong, then their customer services can be lacking at times.0

I have bought from them
OH MY GOD WORST EXPERIENCE EVER
I bought online and it took about a month to arrive and even then that was only after annoying them via their Facebook page and email as they didn't have a customer service telephone number at the time (they may do now)0 -
What about gumtree, you can list your item specifically in your local are with ebay like options except fees
What about your facebook page0 -
webuy is CEX and they have shops across the country. Perfectly legit company.
I'd suggest going instore to buy or trade in though. Check the disk/item before you walk away from the shop if buying, although I've not had problems you'll hear from many who have (same with most game shops though).
For trade-in they may say they have no cash. It seems to be a common problem, athough trade-in for instore credit is fine (and you get more than for cash). Probably best not to go to late in the day. Again though, I have had no problem trading in for cash.
Buying online is fine but there is the cost of postage and if the item doesn't work it's harder to send it back. For trade ins just be aware that some people have had parcels go missing, items go missing when sending multiple items and items graded at lower than they should be (e.g. mint condition phone that should be graded A graded B or C) meaning less money. If that happens instore you can walk out with the item, you can't do the same online.
I would suggest trying Grainger Games and Cash Convertors. Grainger Games will match trade-in prices. Cash Convertors don't guarantee matching them but my local do try.0 -

They started offering payment direct into your bank account at some point last year - I assume they still do that. Handy, because like you say, the stores never seem to have any cash to give you!
Grainger Games are good, they'll match CEX/Game prices. It's the only shop I've been to where the assistant actively sought to match the prices - usually you at least have to ask.
Smells better than CEX too... :rotfl:0 -
I have had been in CEX to sell some games on behalf of my grandson. The website said £20 cash or £30 credit. Which is quite good since we had the game for a few years. I requested cash, they said "got no cash" so I said okay I'll come back tomorrow.
Next day, check the website, same price etc. I personally checked the disc and it was perfect condition. They checked the disc and apparently had loads of scratches/ finger marks. I questioned the marks as they weren't there when I gave it to them (I even had my son check it too and he said it was spotless). They said they'll accept it but they will reduce the price. I asked and they said it would be £2.
My grandson's £20 game was reduced to £2. We said thanks but we'll take the business elsewhere. The cashier then offered £5 instead. We both decided to not accept the offer and continued to go to the door.
If that didn't encourage me to give them my business then the next bit was going to secure my opinion of them.
The cashier then said "Okay you fat black n***a, we didn't want you in the country either" and she kept repeating it. Lucky my son usually records audio when he goes shopping due to an incident regarding racism.
At the time I did want to say something but I decided to ignore her. My son said to me "I'm going to deal with her". My son has told her his phone has been recording the whole conversation and he will report it to the Head office. Her reply was a shrug and an "okay".
Anyway I had wrote a letter to CEX at the time. The reply was the usual standard we'll look into it. This was when you was able to call the company up. I called up to see if any action was taken.
The person on the phone said that the issue was being taken care of (the same thing that the letter said). A few days later a letter arrived saying "we apologise for the inconvience and we would like to offer you a £5 towards your next purchase"
Me and my son went back to the store (hoping that the person wasn't there) and she was still there. Still the same old attitude. She kept giving out racism comments. I decided I wasn't going to ignore it and I told her to stop the childish behaviour. Her reply was "Make me, Mother F**ker -N***a."
Lets just say a phone call and 20 minutes later she was escorted out of the CEX shop.
I decided to write a final letter to CEX saying that I won't be using any of their shops anymore as they didn't look into the issue, regardless of what vouchers they offer me. their reply was okay, sorry about this incident, nothing else.
Personally I wouldn't bother with CEX if they employ people who don't have the basic customer service and the respect for other people. Also every time I go past their store it always has a strong smell (not a good kind like Lush). The smell reminded me of someone I knew a while ago that basically didn't have washes, in fact he probably had a wash once every week.
I prefer Grainger games as they smell much better, they offer the same exchange as CEX and sometimes beats it. Buying is infact much better as it is cheaper and I never have to send anything back (When I was buying things in CEX, 90% of the time took stuff back). In fact I only sent one thing back with Grainger games and the serivce there was simply the best. The person offered the refund and then offered a replacement. I took the replacement. (Cex never offered the refund despite their 12 month money back).
Also the people there are much nicer, they usually ask you about your day etc and then offer to help you. (Cex did not do any of this).
Grainger game > Cex in everything in my opinion0
