Advantis and Thames Water

Around 2 weeks ago I received a letter from the above re an outstanding bill for water from an address I left in 2007. I emailed Advantis and explained I left the address in 2007, and therefore was not responsible for any unpaid water bill for the period in question ie Sept 2012.

I have since received a letter this morning saying I need to provide evidence for the period April 2012-Sept 2012 in either the form of a tenancy agreement, council tax etc, but it has to be specifically be for the period in question.

I don't have anything for that period of time.

I was wondering should I just send the template letter I have seen on here where it is for them to prove I owe the debt? Or is it different because this is Thames water and not a credit debt?

Thanks

Ask them to prove you WERE living there.

I don't see why it's for you to prove you weren't?

    Unless I'm missing something here...

It is for them to prove that you are respnsible for the debt, not for you to have to prove that you are not! Send them the standard "prove it" letter and see what imaginary info they can come up with.
