way to find out 'final sum' or bankruptcy

Hi,
Insurance renewal process has thrown up the question "What was the value of your bankruptcy?"
Wondered if anyone had any idea how to find this out?
I've never received paperwork to confirm a full 'value'.

  • I assume this refers to the amount of debt written off as part of your bankruptcy. I am only guessing but that's how I'd interpret the question.

  • Is there a way I can get hold of this figure do you know?
When I last had contact with OR I didn't have a sum for some of my creditors.
I've not had any kind of paperwork through to confirm the full amount.

  • I would make an informed guess as to the amount. The exact number is unlikely to be relevant to the question of whether you will be able to renew your insurance.

Which company is asking that? I would just go with someone else! I just moved my insurance over to the co op, they didn't mention bankruptcy in there assumptions or there terms and conditions. I applied online and they even let me pay in installments. If you go with them, I'd advise to ring them once you have set it up just to mention the bankruptcy to them, they told me it was fine but I asked them to add a note to my records anyway.

Should have been all added up on your court SOA at the time, assuming that it's just a total they re after. Mine was. Guestimate would be OK I would imagine.

  • Thanks Fermi,
I've found a different company to go with now.
This company 'Key Connect' never even bothered to get back to me with a quote - although I'd been with them without a claim (until this last month) for four years.
I've seen a post in the 'bankruptcy friendly home insurance' thread saying a similar thing.
I can't see a necessity for them knowing the figures, tbh.
    Co-Op for me.
