I have been unemployed for 9 weeks and after serious job hunting, trial days etc I have got a job which wont start for another 2/4 weeks due to a 2 week online process, but the lady said she will hire me for a 12 week probation period,as I have no start date I still have to apply for other jobs which I don't mind to much if local as I might get better pay or even my dream job...but the problem is once I start and they stop the jsa I wont get paid for a month and I am struggling already,I have had to borrow money to pay for train fares to get to interviews as I could not get help as I had not been on the jsa long enough, and once I start I am no longer entitled to HB although I can send off a new claim to see if I can get help, but have been told that for the month I before I get paid I will have to pay that months rent until the asses the new claim,I don't get the 4 week roll over as Ive not been unemployed longer than 26 weeks, I will only be earning minimum wage...I will have to spend money on a 20 minute train journey and then walk 40 min walk to work, which I is fine but I just don't know how I'm going to pay my rent or anything....I do budget but unfortunately locked in a monthly 42 phone bill a month which I got when I was working ans still have over a year on the contract,Me and my daughter use blankets instead of the heating on,I don't smoke or drink....I'm trying my best but all I want to do is cry,....the only luxuries is the internet and paying the TV licence...but I guess they will be next to go........
Does anyone know if I can get help with traveling to work, rent for the first month or well just anything even though I have not been on jsa for over 26 weeks,I'm just hoping I have missed something...
Thanks in advance and happy new year to you all :-)

Hi,I have child benefit and will sort tax credit asap but cant do anything until I have start date, not sure of shifts yet they said between 20 and 40 hours...but tax credits would only just cover gas, electric food, and if i'm very lucky train fare half way to work....thats what it covered in my last job then my bills and rent were paid out of my wage there would be nothing left for rent for that month....also I will be earning £1.78 less than my old job and have to pay for travel,I asked the job centre what can I do and my adviser just said she sorry she cant help...thanks0

I'm sure I will get some help with HB but by the time they sort out a new claim they will still want a months rent which I wont have,so effectively it will be like paying 2 months rent,I had this before a few with changing jobs, which ended up putting me in arrears which I am still slowly paying off....0
