I have always been a bit fussy about any smell from chicken, and often threw away defrosted chicken because it smelled a bit off. Now I'll give it more of a chance! I always rinse defrosted meat too, but I do it carefully to avoid splashing and wash the sink after - maybe washing it in a bowl would help prevent bacteria from spreading too far?

Think its cos its hardly fresh when you bought it - supermarket chickens arent as a rule
I get our fillets for work the day after slaughter. In their raw state we keep them for a week, refrigerated, and poached - 3 days
The only time we had any go slimy on us was when we closed for three days and the fillets were left raw for 10 days - they were binned0
