Mine gives me 0.5% (and I think you can get better, but I'm with smile for their ethical stance) - it's not like winning the lottery(!), but it's a lot better than a kick in the teeth. And as you say, it means I get to keep approx £500 more in my current account every month, giving me 3.4% interest. AND I have my current account and credit card with the same bank so I don't look at my current account to see how much I have - I look at the net total ;D And just set up a DD to pay off the entire balance every month and you'll never miss the payment.
£17 a year in extra curr acc interest and £30 cashback isn't going to wipe all my debts, but I'd rather it was in my pocket than the banks!
Point taken Ashmit. It was a spare of the moment thing and I used a stoozing card that was waiting for a new offer.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -
Nice thread!
I'm accelerating my student loan repayments so I can be shot of it quicker (well actually I'm saving the money up in a savings account earning more interest than I would if I paid it directly to the loan co. and it means I could access it if I was desperate).
As well as that I'm trying to keep putting a little aside for holidays- they really are my weakness and I'd rather go without lots of other things to have fairly regular sunshine fixes.

Oh, and pay off CC - still interest free but will have to get another one soon as money for that went on paying off Mr TM's 4 figure overdraft he 'omitted' to tell me about and that I accidentally found.

I guess I hit lucky with my current place in that I only had to pay a month's rent and deposit up front, but a couple of places I've recently enquired about are wanting in the region of £1-2K before you even move in!!!!
Once all that's out the way I hope to concentrate on getting myself out and about again and maybe save up to buy a little car so I can get to some of these farmer's markets and cheaper supermarkets again
Well done.
I cannot stoooze as I dont have any debts. I just having savings and two months left on a loan and my student loan. I shall never get a loan again after this excluding mortgage. Re your student loans. You can make override (volunatary) payments before you are earning over the limit to make proper payments. This could just be a one-off. unless I am being really thick. Why do you need debts to stooze.
I read of people who are stoozing 45K + and use it to offset there mortgage or put it in the bank to get interest off it.
But then I could be wrong and usually am

I didnt think you needed debts to stooze either! in fact its best to pay them off isn't it?
I've just opened an ING direct account, as for a change, I now have money to save:) I'm putting in £50 a month to see how i get on, BUT I will still carry on only spending 20 quid a week on groceries, and having a strictly limited budget for things such as clothes, birthdays etc. so the money i have is put to the best possible use for my kids and myself. Felt really extravagant today because i went to the fishmongers having got thru til today on a tenner for shopping, leaving £10 for today and fridayso i treated us to some mussels and prawns. My saving has enabled me to really enjoy little luxuries like this:)
