Tesco Price Match: Split and save

Split your grocery shopping into two, one part all the items on offer and the other the items on normal price. Most likely the items on normal prices are expensive compared to other shops and you will get a voucher for the difference.

I tried this for the last 3 weeks and I always got a voucher for the difference. The lady at checkout is not very happy though.

I thought most savvy shoppers did this?
    I certainly do.

I can never understand why the checkout staff get unhappy about how you get your shopping it makes no odds to them what you buy for goodness sake.I know there is one member in the local supermarket who huffs and puffs and looks at a coupon as though its been forged when ever one is presented to her you'd think the money was coming from her wages :(

To be honst, i'd thought of this, but as I always shop with someone who doesn't go in for this kind of thing, never actually actioned it.....until today when I was on my own.

Coupon back for £1.44 on full price goods (and I struggled to find 10 items) and my next transaction, saved £9.02, so had I done it all together, I would have saved £7.58 but would not have the £1.44 for next time....it's not much but as someone once said, every little helps.

Thanks. Could make a big difference on a big shop :)

Given that Tesco is, on average, around 25-30% more expensive than Aldi (or Lidl), and selling products which are frequently inferior in quality, isn't the most sensible strategy simply to ditch Tesco altogether?

It depends on what you buy, I personally find that Asda is pretty much always the same or cheaper than everywhere else, and where it isn't I tend to find it works out cheaper once I factor in the price guarantee voucher I get back. Quality doesn't really come into it for me, there's very few things I don't like the value/smartprice/etc version of.

I had two baskets again today, but a different result.

My full price basket - I saved 6p.

My 'offers' basket - I received a voucher for 95p.

Which tells me Tesco's current offers are rubbish as they would be cheaper elsewhere.

Tesco is 2 minutes from me (walking) so it's convenient.
