Free Postcode Lottery took a stand against cheating

I could hardly read it, because I'm still in mourning about it being reset back to £20 today after yesterday's £240 was claimed. Well done to the winner *said through clenched teeth, trying to sound sincere*.

Anyway, you might be interested to read about why Thursday's 'winner' was disqualified.

Just checked my postcode for today and was disappointed to see it back at the start, but it seems unfair that yesterdays big winner has been refused. It must be easy to enter any of these things twice, surely their system should pick it up straight away.
I've checked now, my postcode is only there once, has been since June 2011 and i've not won a bean.

I think it was last Thursday's winner who was disqualified, not yesterday's.

I don't think it was yesterdays winner that has been denied the prize as was this not from last week?

Yes, there's always that secret thrill when the pot builds up, particularly over the £200 mark, and the equal and corresponding disappointment when it is claimed and it wasn't your p/c :lipsrseal

I hadn't seen the post about the cheater so thanks Blu, makes interesting reading and I will be double checking I only have one email addy on there just in case!! :D

yes it was last week that the winner was disqualified, I remember reading it at the time and thinking "what on earth could you have to gain by registering twice"
Surely if you win, it just means you share the proceeds with yourself?!

Each registration of a postcode is one entry. So if you register your postcode multiple times you get multiple entries.

Unlikely aim would be the bonus payments, if you had two accounts and if you claimed on both of them (and got paid) you would gain the extra bonus payment.
Most likely aim would be to increase the chances of their postcode area being picked. If I remember correctly it's something like a postcode has one chance to be picked for every time that postcode is entered - so if the cheat was the only one in that postcode area the chances of that one being picked were doubled by entering twice.

Oh I see now, yes in fact I do remember reading something along those lines on the site a while back, it was an article about people moaning that certain postcode areas always seem to be picked, and the site owner explained that it was cos more people from those areas are registered. It makes sense now but still think it's a bit stupid to register yourself twice!

I've just looked at my account and I've been on there 13 months and in that time I've seen 3 Liverpool postcodes drawn, and only one of them won / claimed! So doesn't seem like many people round here are registered!
