Just tried mine on tomatoes and they turned up their beaks. I had half a million sparrows round the hopper helping themselves to the layers pellets

Mine love tomatoes, especially Gracie. She's a right tealeaf and will pinch tomatoes from the beaks of the others, then she legs it!

I think one of my chickens might be waddling a little after laying this :rotfl:

thanks for all the replies, all information gratefully received:)

In answer to ionahenor2, yes we've had eggs from the hens since the day we brought them home. It has been between 4-6 each day and the scrawniest, baldest chicken (that I've unkindly knicknamed Oven Ready) lays every day and lays the biggest eggs of all:D

OH was digging in the garden today and gave them a load of weeds and worms - mayhem followed:rotfl: So I guess liking worms is an inborn thing! I tried them on dried mealworms which they ate but without the enthusiasm of the real thing:p

wheeeeeee - I get my girls tomorrow!

I think I am all set - have their house and run, food, feeder and water thing, saw dust and 'bedding' for the nest boxes...

What is the best think to clean the coop with - I'd prefer something natural rather than chemically...

I have another poorly ex batt :(

Didn't think she'd survive the night but still with us (just). Spent hours on the net last night and decided to treat for coccidiosis, now have a 28 day egg withdrawal period

Got some nutri drops coming tomorrow - has anyone tried them as they sound like a miracle?

Fingers crossed for my little girl, she's a pretty little hen and bottom of the pecking order.

yay I have my girls - I went intending to get a bluebelle and a sussex - came back with a speckledy, a black rock and an amber links.

The speckledy is called Delores, the amber Cinderella (named by dd) and my son will name the black rock when he comes home tomorrow.

They are scrapping over slugs, sizing up the cats and being cooed over by the neighbourhood kids! I love them all already!
