what would you like to know ? i assume you have done your training with your asp, cs, unarmed combat, cuffs etc0

Not really. Well, tomorow evening is my induction thogh i have been given the armour, uniform, epaulettes etc...but dont know when can i start ? i have not done any training yet...0

You should not be able to commence patrols until you have completed your induction and have suscessfully completed your officer safety training. You will need to have been deemed competent with all your equipment/procedures prior to hitting the streets.
This is basic health and safety stuff, which your force should abide to, as they have a legal duty to protect the welfare of their employee's (which should include specials)My £2 savings total for 2007 = £92, for 2008 = £124
My savings from money off coupons for 2007 = £67.97, for 2008 = £194.79
My £2 savings for 2009 (so far) = £130
My savings from money off coupons for 2009 = £593.08

hi teleaddict
well, all i can do is wait for the training & then start...its just makes me feel that why give us all the armour without being trained, you see ! i put this thread on the forum in case others trainees had all the information & i was the only one that didnt...0 -
dont know what force you are with but you cannot go on the streets without being fully trained all aspects of the job, you must have signed forms from your trainers stating you are competent, you cannot be issued with cs unless you have completed the course, no cs,you cannot go on the streets this applies to baton, cuffs etc. If you are asked to go on patrol without any training you must say NO, however keen you are. your life could depend on it and the lives of your colleagues and the public.0

I have signed no forms yet, YES i have signed the form that i have received my uniform & my body armour ! but no training. Since i DO NOT want to patrol without training, i have put this thread on. whats a CS by the way & other abbreviations..? i have got the baton & cuffs, torch etc..but not looking forward to go on the streets with being trained...0

Me thinks you are having a laugh with us, what force are you with by the way0

Hi there,
Just a quick note, as previously pointed out, you haven't stated which force you belong to, but I was a Special Constable for 8 years with Merseyside, I did three weekends of initial training which included Police and criminal acts training (PACE) and use of interpersonal skills (TALKING TO THE PUBLIC) and finally 2 days of unarmed defence tactics (UDT) No force would expect or allow you to patrol without this basic training. I then went back 12 weeks later for further Police powers training. The wearing of the armour will be shown to you by another officer....don't forget they were new to the job once......Anyway, goodluck and keepsafe, being in the specials was the best experience of my life, and i only reluctantly left as i due to conflict of interest in becoming a prison officer.
I hope this helps, you will learn a lot and your eyes will be flung wide open once you start.
P.s CS is incapacitant sprayYou have to know what the problem is before you can solve it
