As most of you have said: "have it in writing." I did ask for that when i was there (i tried to think ahead) and she printed off an appointment letter, that states: "To attend 1 hour job club with Jxxxxx and Yxxxxx to apply for a minimum of 5 position [sic] while onsite. To bring in all login details for jobsites and emails used. To make sure you bring in your CV."
    .

That letter only states you need to bring them with you, we have established that you will need to do that. It DOES NOT state that you have to show them to anyone! I think I would take the letter with me and calmly explain it doesn't say you need to show and ask it they want you to do that you need the request in writing. I would explain I am not happy about giving my details out as it is against data protection but would offer to log into the relevant sites and then show them that you are logged in or give them a print out of a job confirming you have applied for via the site (you can't apply if you don't have a log in). I think you will have to try to work with them a bit without doing anything you shouldn't otherwise they could make your life difficult.

I don't see why you don't want to give them your CV, what is the problem with them showing it to companies? you do that all the time yourself and the more that see it the more likely work is to come from it.

Universal Jobsmatch is accessed through a government gateway account. It is against the terms you agreed when you registered your government gateway account to give the userid or password to any other person.

Under the computer misuse act, 1990, s1 it is illegal to access a computer without permission; by breaking the terms and conditions of government gateway any implied permission to use the service would be withdrawn and it would therefore be a criminal offence to use universal jobsmatch.

Further, there is no implied permission for any other individual to access your account, and it would be an offence for them to do so under the computer misuse act 1990 s1.

All requests by work program staff must be within the law to be reasonable; I would argue that this request is not within the law.

It is reasonable for them to ask to see you use the account while using work program computers when you have logged in yourself.

UJ sign-up and login procedures require you to tick the box to agree to the T&Cs. The T&Cs include the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is accessed via a link in the T&Cs. The link merely takes you to the top of the same page - no PP anywhere. The Privacy Policy cannot be read, and therefore cannot be agreed to. As the T&Cs require you to agree with them, and as the Privacy Policy forms part of that agreement, you cannot agree with the T&Cs due to being unable to know exactly what you are agreeing to because part of what you are agreeing to is missing.

Jobs can still be browsed, and some can even be applied for, but you cannot access your account without agreeing the T&Cs. For those getting hassle to go on UJ this might be a useful thing to know, unless they've fixed it by now.

Bullying is not only wrong, but it is a crime as well; sadly the bullies (the organisations/companies that employ them don't understand the seriousness until it hits them). Do not indugle it, refuse to engage. Most importantly, be consistent in the decision you make, refuse to budge an inch on that. You should be on the right path. Nothing else should matter. Sometimes you have to point out that you are right and that they are wrong, be assertive and act on your rights. Good luck.

However I wanted to add something else. Whilst they are clearly wrong if they are bullying you, please try not to name or shame and expose them on public forums because your story is just one side of the story. Not that I have any reason to not believe you or that it is within my remit to judge but I do believe that if there is no one from their end to defend or explain themselves, it is wrong to name anyone. I'd remove the name of this site/company if I were you.

Give her the CV (reasonable request), but do not give her passwords!

If push comes to absolute shove, set up an account just for this, but I would certainly query this with her manager first.

Passwords should never be given to anyone.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

a privacy policy is there https://jobsearch.direct.gov.uk/Privacy/Default.aspx

    Must admit I haven't read it :o

Thanks for the link - I also didn't bother reading it.

Yes - a Privacy Policy is on direct.gov. UJ requires reading of the Privacy Policy included in the Standards of Behaviour. The Privacy Policy as stated on direct.gov is not necessarily the Privacy Policy referred to in the SOB. It can be inferred that the Privacy Policy as stated is the one you are agreeing to but that wouldn't stand up legally. In other words, if you did agree to the PP in the SOB, you couldn't actually know if it were the same as stated on direct.gov - that might be an old PP still floating around, for example - and therefore if they abused what you thought was the Privacy Policy they could say that you should have reported the broken link and not agreed to something you didn't have direct knowledge of - and that the Privacy Policy as found on direct.gov was not applicable to UJ [Edit: it does say it's for UJ - but no saying it's current], or it was outdated or erroneous for some other reason.
