  • I recall seeing this company being mentioned on a thread a while ago as I am considering my options re getting a car at some point in next few months...

I don't think you get credit checked for this, you will need to insure but may be a solution to give you some breathing space as suggested.

My advice will be to finance a cheaper car, once you have built up savings/job security then if you still want a dearer car go for it....I do around 20,000 miles a year and spent £2500 on a 2002 Audi A4 tdi........high 40's mpg (£0.13 per mile) and very reliable.

I would stay away from expensive long finance agreements if possible.

Totally agree. I run a 2002 a4 petrol. Also do 20k a year. I paid 2.5k for the car and it's been faultless over the 3 years I've owned. Now on 150k miles. I would honestly consider a high mileage German marque, 3 series diesel, a3 a4 or golf. You can pick up some excellent cars for 2k. I would not sign up to lengthy finance on any car that depreciates. Can you get a credit card and pay for it on that and pay it off monthly if you don't have that kind of money. At least you can then pay off either the minimum or more if you have it. Nothing worse than getting your pay cheque and watching lots of it go out on a car loan. Either hire a fiesta or something for a few months until you can save that money and buy a 10 year old German car. Lots of ex company cars out there that have been well looked after.

At least you will own the car and you don't want a 4 or 5 year finance plan in case you lose your job again. Either credit card or loan money from family, spend 3k max on an older car, get a good service on it and away you go.

Also if you hire you might find someone who also does the same commute as you in your new job who would happily allow you with them for some petrol money. Then return the favour when you have enough money to buy your car

I bought a car on finance for 6k but I regret it now. I wish I had done the above - got an older Audi or something. My partner has an older Audi and has touch wood has had a good car.
