Stair gate?

Hi can anyone help? I'm looking for a cheap stair gate. Well, i'm not - a friend is. I've tried eBay but no luck because they're all collection only and there's none listen near me. We preferably wan't one that fixes with suckers or something rather than screwing to the wall because the house has just been decorated. There's no danger of the child pushing the gate over and falling down the stairs as it's to be used between two rooms so he can't crawl all over a marble floor and leave sticky marks etc and climb up the stairs so suckers are fine! :) She's tried local carboots but no luck there either. She only wants to spend about £10-£15 as it's not her child - he's only there occasionally.

Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi
Have you tried asking on Freecycle? There are always people offering them on my local one.

Do you have an IKEA near you ? This one is £15, if you become a member of the ikea family (its free to join). It can be pressure mounted or fixed. I have never fixed it just tightned the nuts as much as possible with spanner and it doesn't move. I have had this one for a couple of years now and it keeps my very active 3yr old out of harms way.
