Jewellers messed up engagement ring - what to do?

Hi all - long story short:

I designed an engagement ring and provided diamonds to a jewellers for them to build the prefect ring, with the band of the ring agreed to be 18ct ROSE GOLD. This was just before Christmas, and I was originally told the ring would be ready before 20th Jan.

The ring was a day late (they hadn't hallmarked it), however the band was set in WHITE GOLD. I've spent a lot of money on this and I'm furious, but tbh I want to get this dealt with as quickly as possible.

How long would it take to take the setting of diamonds from the white gold ring I have currently and mould them to a new rose gold ring? My partner and I have an engagement party on Saturday and wanted the ring for then, but obviously the jewellers have messed up terribly.

I think it very much depends on the jewellers. The one we bought my wife's ring from had their own facilities so they set the diamond on her ring there & then and we just had to walk around for an hour.

But if you are buying it from a store without the skills on site (eg. high street chain) then they have to send it off and I'd doubt it'll happen for Saturday.

Just buy a cheap ring from Argos, nobody will know, notice or care but you. I've 'admired' loads of ringed hands brandished at me, they all look the same, I couldn't tell one from the other.

Alternatively, if you've paid for it, have the ring for the night, give it back to the jewellers on Monday.
