Ever sold yourself short when asked what your salary expectations are?
I often get asked this by HR departments or recruitment agencies but there are just too many variables to give a figure.
Contracted hours, leave, commute and benefits all come into play and often you don't know these while at the interview stage. If you give a figure during interview and find out it's quite a lot below their maximum, how do you play that when it comes to contract negotiations?

Tell them your estimate of salary requirement was based on certain assumptions e.g. 35 hour week. Now you find they require you to work 40 hrs you have reviewed the situation and now ask for £x or a compromise on the working hours0 -
