Just for those who don't yet know, from today if you need to know how much you earned in any tax year from 2007/2008 onwards HMRC can now provide this information over the telephone rather than sending it in a letter.

This means if anyone needs the details to submit actual income details for Tax Credits, or in order to complete your tax return, you can now call HMRC and get the information immediately, without having to wait for a letter to be delivered.

If you can't remember who you worked for, or who your pension providers are, HMRC can give you the total income and total tax deducted. However, if you can confirm who exactly you worked for/who your pension provider was, then they can give you the breakdown of how much you received from each seperate source of income.

This only applies to PAYE income, it does not yet apply to people looking to confirm their CIS pay/tax details.

Im sure you will agree however that this is a step in the right direction.
[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.
