We had them go in and slap a nice fine on our competitors for misdescribing a whole raft of properties by them lying about the postcodes. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

Perhaps branding comes into estate agencies too, therefore prospective buyers might actually be put off by supermarket branding?
I have bought lots of shirts in Turkey over the past few years, super quality, fabrics etc. However my daughter lives and works in Dubai, luckily her bf is a project manager and earns 60k tax free, she teaches on 18k per year, the cost of living is high and therefore most low paid workers are migrant and have to live in another emirate, she wouldn't have been allowed to live there on her own.theres some funny stuff going on on mse at the mo ?
Anyhow what I was going to say is yes, there is a branding issue - as fish 4 have pulled out. Many of its agents are up in arms about the tesco site and dont want to be associated with it. Fish4 backpedalling. got an email about it yesterday when i go back to work on monday, Ill post up the content of the email. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? What I will say is that during the last housing boom, estate agencies were a sought after business and many large companies (particularly banks) spent millions buying up small to large chains of estate agents, hoping to cash in on the frenzy of activity taking place.
Many of these got their fingers burnt during the subsequent crash and lost all of their money.
Of course, in the late 80s we didn't have the interweb.
If this report is correct, Tescos have gone a step further and are hoping to build an agency from scratch using their popularity and brand name as a way of making even more money. The fact that the interweb is now available means their costs will be a lot lower, so they may be successful.
But then again, they could end up losing money and jumping ship if the market crashes again.
Who knows?
The power of the free market. They are a brilliant company and they give the consumer what he/she wants quality at a value for money price .I hope that they force all the high street estate agents out of business .
Eventually estate agents will go the same way that travel agents went ,as soon as the consumer realises that they can access information and do their own deals .To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -
Think about the people that would lose their jobs, the effects on their families and the economy.
I believe that the 2 very different models will overlap each other more and more as time goes on but there are few things that the internet cannot offer whilst people still want to speak to people and have people working their sales to deal with etc.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
