60s style kids fun day

We are having a 60s themed end of year funday in our class of 5-7 year olds.

Ideas for party games, decorations to make and 60s party food would be most welcome.

So far we have made some bunting and 60s style sunglasses.

We are also hoping to do some tye dye t-shirts if I can buy some white t-shirts cheap enough (less than £1 each).
Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j

Hi prettypennies I think tesco do value t shirts for 75p Asda do but they are blue & pink , if you google 60's party ideas you get ton's of stuff this one look's ok smiley cupcakes to go with the hippy theme hope it goes well sounds like fun, sure the kid's will love dancing to the music they'll have to learn the twist
    Booo!!!
  • Sorry to put a damper on it but tie die was seventies. 60's was mini skirts and long boots. Long earrings usually white and the beatles hair cuts.
For 5-7 party games where:- pass the parcel, statues, musical chairs, blind mans buff, pin the tail on the donkey, simon says, silly dancing, musical chairs etc.,

Food was vol au vents (very posh) sausages on sticks, cheese and pineapple on sticks, sandwiches of egg mayonnaise, tomato and salmon paste, ham and tomato, posh salmon (tinned salmon mashed up with mayonnaise with onions) sausage rolls, crisps (were actually a treat and came with a twist of salt) and twiglets. jelly and ice cream in wafers and a trifle. Then the birthday cake and smarties. Fizzy pop and then because of all the 'e' numbers we were all hyperactive and sick. Jamie Oliver would hate it!!

Play lots of sixties music and teach them to mamba and do all the daft dances like the twist etc.

    Woodstock was 1969!

How about making paper flowers for garlands or the girl's hair or face painting

Being only a wee babe myself and not around in the sixties i asked my mum.
So if these are no help blame her :rotfl:
( but if you like them they were my idea !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
So how about a cheese fondu and pineapple upside down cake ( yum yum)
Mum rekons they were both a big treat for them in the good old days.
You could get the kids to make love bead necklaces using big chuncky beads or if we are really money saving coloured pasta !
Friendship bracelets are cool too but may be a bit more tricky for 5-7's to make.
You could make big cut outs of vw beetles and campervans and get the kids to colour them in as bright as possible and of course the more daisies and other flowers the better.
And to end how about a game of twister ( can you still play that with kids these days health n safety and all that???)
Getting really excited about this 60s stuff PLEASE CAN I COME TO YOUR PARTY!!!!!!:D
:AIt matters not how long a stars shines ,what is remembered is the brightness of it's light.
JAN Battle attacks cars, 3 VIP althletics tickets, fairtrade choccy .... yum

    Thanks to all posters xxxx
