Dilemma

I started a new job in early September and don't enjoy it one bit. However, I get on really well with everybody at work so it would be a shame to leave.
Another job has became available within the business and at my site. I'd like to apply for it as it means I'd be a lot more happy in this job and not have to leave and loose the friends I've made etc.
My dilemma is, do I apply for it?
The thing that's making me unsure is that it would mean my manager would know that I'm not happy in my current role, it would also give him the headache of having to replace me as I've had a fair bit of training albeit mainly me asking other staff questions, not being sent on courses.
Part of me thinks that I want to leave anyway so if it backfires then it does'nt matter too much as I'm not planning on staying there long term in my current role. Opinions please

at the end of the day you have to put yourself 1st - apply for the job if the manager says anything just say that you like the company hence you are applying for a new position for career reasons. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

In my experience, you make sure you look at it as positive for both you and the company.
Better fit, progression, prospects etc.
Often a pre application "chat" with the recruiting manager/people in that section to see if there is a good fit, might need a follow up with your own manager so they know or see if the manger will block the move.
For the company they need to get someone in and it may be that recruiting into your position is easier than the current opening so if you fit they might be happy that you move and they change the recruitment drive to fill the gap you leave.0 -

Does this necessarily follow? Is there anything else about the other role -more varied/interesting work, different hours, a closer fit to your personal interests, the chance to pick up a different set of skills and experience etc?
There are lots of reasons for applying for a different role in the same organisation and it's not always (in fact it's pretty rare in my experience) because the employee is unhappy. Perhaps your manager would take this view too?I'm a...I'm a real traditionalist of course0
