Can I claim for these items

in Cutting tax
I work in the construction industry under CIS. I am self employed and subcontract myself to the same firm everyday. They deduct 20% of my wages automatically.
I'm about to do my first self assessment online.
I'm not your average builder I guess. I spend half my life on a computer, half on the tools, and I cycle everywhere even picking up materials (unless they're really large).
Over the last tax year I've purchased a lot of cycling equipment out of necessity (not under cycle to work scheme) and other items, which although were purchased specifically for work, would they be considered dubious by HMRC or should I claimf or them. I have evidence I purchased them.
e.g.
New folding bicycle (so i could go on the train)
Train fares to building site (main site office is elsewhere, and sometiems I have to go to another site
-Mobile phone
-GPS holder for my bicycle so I can navigate around london
-Cycling jacket
-Bicycle lights
-Bicycle helmet
-Innertubes
-Bicycle paint
etc etc
Also, things like stationary, stamps, and other small items I don't have reciepts for. Is there an allowance, or do I need proof of absolutely everything?
Obviously tools I will definitely be claiming against.
Thanks

Yes you could potentially claim under Capital Allowances and then general equipment expenses.
An alternative would be to claim on a mileage basis at 20p per mile. You could then also claim for the other travel as well such as the train.
You should try to keep records for the smaller items. Although they are unlikely to be checked and an estimate may be suitable it is at a much higher level of rick as if they were paid cash they cannot be proven. Putting it simply keep the receipts in the future.Running challenge 2014 = 689k / 800k0
