Some of the new Wii games coming out on ebay are almost just as expensive if not more expensive sometimes as getting them from web traders. I found that https://www.choicesuk.com is an excellent site for buying new games at good prices. And you can use them via quidco.com and get an extra 5% back.0

sadly i am a game freek... i spend £100's per year on buying games and yes i do agree with martins stratagy to a degree but there are some downfalls ~
1) not every system's games released are avalible to rent (this is seen with mainly the wii no where shop wise near me rents them as it seem to be rated quite low commpared to the x360 and ps2/3)
2) us gamers like to be able to play certain games (not all) upon release so those very few shops that allow rentings have say 3 games (the lastest) to rent out release day, they will be rented and then not show up avalible to rent for a few weeks (this happens with the x360 games) thus you then rent it and it either avalible online at a low price (in the region of £20) or the next release is happening and you are way behind the times
3) what happens if you have more than one system ~ so effectively you want 3 games so you rent them all (different games different systems) however these cost £15 for the night, now ps2 games you can pick up on ebay for £8~£15... so its fine if you then dont want to buy it but pointless if you do imo
I personally only buy 2/3 games on launch day per year... however if i then decided i dont like it it may go on ebay and make a small profit/break even. But if you save for each game (wii game £39.99) if you buy one per month you only need to save £1.43 a day to afford it... also if you are like me and only buy something once you have the free cash you would never buy any game for full price in your life :T *upon release of the wii i had saved through quidco £163.59 then i had ebayed £59.46 and put only my £20 deposit/reservasion on it and an extra £5... not too bad i thought *0 -
Having just bought a 360, I am very concious about the cost of new games. I will probably swap games with work mates who also have the same console. I got 2 decent games with the console and have bought 1 more 2nd hand. Rather than using a rental service, I think it is more likely I will swap or buy 2nd hand.
That said, when GTA4 comes out, I will buy it on the day or release for full price! There won't be many that I will happily pay more than £25 for, but that will be one of them.0 -
If possible, play the demo first. More applicable to PC and XBOX gaming I think. Not too sure if the PS3 magazines have demo discs, and i know Nintendo have always been funny about demos. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0

I agree metacritic is an excellent website for reviews, but it isn't always right. It lists at fairly respectable 69% (not excellent, but not awful either). However when I played it I couldn't stand it, and within 3 hours it was up on eBay. However, this was alright because I'd bought it on eBay for £17 and then sold it for £22!
I was just looking at that site. I must say it seems a bit dodgy when it's listing games reviews that got 100%.
Oh by the way, I found this thread as I was searching Ps2 games. Someone gave me their Ps2 (without games) as they upgraded to Ps3 so I was looking to see where I could buy some cheap games (probably pre-owned). It seems they are becoming obsolete in the main shops in town (GAME etc. etc.).
Ps2 isn't that old skool yet is it? Is there a place better (and cheaper) than Amazon Marketplace?Instigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0
