If you don't submit one and you ought to have done then it will cost you £100, initially.
I assume the accountant who acted for the partnership submited your return last year and that you do not have a used number and password to submit your own. The accountant who submitted the return acted for you and you should ask him if HMRC are asking for a return from you, it will be on his system.
At this stage it is unlikely that you will be able to submit your own return and the accountant is the only person who can. If the interest you received had suffered tax by deduction then you will probably be due a refund of £75.

No, I don't have a usernumber or password.

I requested these yesterday so I should receive these in time to do a self assessment tax return before the 31st January.

Can I do this self assessment tax return myself?

    I hope you do.
    Yes of course.
The only thing that is constant is change.

I do appreciate all your advice.

I have spoken to HMRC again and someone has confirmed that I don't need to submit a self assessment tax return for the year ending 2013. This is because I was no longer in the partnership and I was not working during this period.

They said they would get this in writing for me too.

Again, thank you very much. It's best to be safe than sorry when it comes to these things.
