MAC MINI won't wake up easily

Does anyone have the same problem or know the answer to why our MAC MINI won't wake up from sleeping/resting easy? We have always only had to push a button on our keyboard and the screen would come up but not now. Everytime we try to wake it from sleeping the screen button just flashes blue and we have to keep pushing the button on the back of the little box to wake it. It is a plug in keyboard but still have been told it shouldn't make any difference. I phoned APPLE and they said to do a full shut down at night and leave it sleeping in the day, touch the return button and it comes on. It used to but now have a right old game trying to wake the little !!!!!!. Should I take it back as it is under guarantee or get a APPLE keyboard to see if that makes any difference? Advice PLEASE

Sounds like my teenage daughter.

LOL I knew someone would write something funny. I was on online chat with Apple and I said I was told by Currys that all you have to do is when we sleep, Mac sleeps, when we awake, Mac wakes at the touch of a press but I CANT WAKE THE LITTLE !!!!!!! and it's really winding me up. I have to get my kids to sit on here whilst I cook dinner otherwise Mac goes into a deep nun nights.
No advice then?

I take it this is quite a new one with no DVD drive. Is there still a white light at the front - on when it's on, and sortof blinking when it's asleep? Have you installed all available updates (you should be on OSX 10.9 - Mavericks).
As you say, when it's asleep, clicking a mouse button, or pressing any button on the keyboard, should wake it. I wonder if there's anything in settings - look in 'Energy Saver' to see if there's settings to shut down after a certain time or something...0 -
I had a similar problem with a Mac Pro running Lion. It would sometimes take ages to wake from sleep after pressing the space bar, over a minute sometimes. The problem was still occasionally there after upgrading to Mountain Lion but since installing Mavericks the problem has disappeared. If you haven't upgraded to Mavericks yet I suggest doing so. Otherwise try running disk utility and verify permissions, see if that throws up anything.0

Is the white LED on the front of the Mini on steadily, fading in and out slowly, or off? On: mini is awake. Fading in and out: mini is asleep. Off: mini has hibernated. It should wake up from any of those states on the press of a key (although I'd be inclined to try an Apple keyboard if you have one to hand) but it will take _much_ longer if it's hibernated.
If the white LED is steadily on, but the screen hasn't woken up, that might be a problem with the screen not coming out of standby cleanly, which I have seen. One of our minis has two screens attached and both wake up perfectly (Fujitsu monitors) but it used to have an HP monitor which occasionally wouldn't wake up even if the mini had.0 -

Thanks for the info. The white LED is on but the screen power button just keeps flashing on and off and we have to push a thousand buttons on keypad to get the blooming thing on. Do you think it is a screen prob instead of Mac?0 -
What if you press the screen power button off then on?0

Yes. Does turning the screen off and on fix it? Then it's the screen not responding correctly to being woken up. Do you have another screen you could check it with?0 -
A mac mini doesn't come with a screen. Are you sure you're talking about the right product? Mac mini is about 6.5 inches square.
Sounds like you're describing you can't wake your monitor up, which would obv not be related to the computer as it's a separate componentFriendly greeting!0 -
