can OR request a friends bank account statements

I am due to go bankrupt in the next couple of weeks and I have a question that I need answering, about 7 months ago i transferred balanced £1000 pound to a friends credit card because he had used his card to pay for a car for me through pay pal, as I couldn't get my own pay pal to work.

At the time I didn't know I was going to have to go bankrupt, but now that I am I really don't want anyone to know if can be helped, especially this friend of mine. So what am really asking is will the official receiver see this financial link between me and him and maybe want to delve into his finances, therefore revealing the situation I am in :(

Any help is greatly appreciated thanks

They may query it with you. They may be OK with it, but if not I would not completely rule out them contacting him.

They cannot just "get" his bank statements. They could ask for him for them, but would need a court order to force disclosure, which is very rare.

  • The OR need to find out where this money went, as you could have given this money to someone to look after for you, instead of you using to repay creditors. They have to be satisfied of your explanation otherwise they will say you have avoided paying creditors.
  • I have paper work that can prove the money went to his credit card then through pay pal to pay for the car. Just wondering that now he is financially linked to me is it likely the OR will then look into his accounts for any reason! Thanks for help so far
  • The OR isn't going to be interested in that (assuming the car wasn't worth only a couple of hundred pounds).
