Online SA system no longer recognises user

I know the answer to this is phone the helpdesk, but it'll be a few days before that is possible, and my curiosity is getting the better of me.

I submitted the SA returns for both my husband and I, before the deadline. I tried to log in today to check the amounts due so I could make the payments.

I managed fine with my own logon. However his logon no longer shows the SA tool as an available option. And thinking about it, his payment reminder went to our old address (only received due to a mail redirection being in place), despite last year's going to the correct address.

I would make the payment anyway, as I know the amount, but am concerned that some admin screw up may cause him to require to re-register with a new Reference No. Don't want the online payment to go astray!

Have HMRC lost some data in the last year?
