What is 'Residential Accommodation'?

Hi,

I'm trying to fill out the form for JSA and came across the question:

'Are you in a residential care home, a nursing home or residential accommodation?'

What does residential accommodation mean? I can't find it on Google or MSE. I rent a room through a private landlord. Is this 'residential accommodation' because I reside there? Or is it something to do with social housing or care housing?

I imagine that it might be to do with the independence of the resident.

The people who stay in that kind of accommodation are more or less independent. For example they don't need help to wash, dress and are able to feed themselves pretty well, but have a Warden on site.

Residential Care Homes have staff to help provide all those services to their residents.

It's probably self explanatory regarding Nursing Homes.
  • I think 'Residential' care would mean if you were in care and needed support. Renting from a landlord would not mean this. I think. A lot of people rent from a landlord

It could also mean something like a boarding school.

Residential Accommodation is basically a care home.

It says residential care home and residential accomodation so there must be a difference.

My interpretation of residential accommodation is somewhere with onsite support. For example a warden who pops in at least once a day, or where the resident has a 24 hour call button.
